This is the original DHC design for the SBS site. Steppin' Birkenstock Shoes wanted to add click-sales capabilities to their mortar store located in Princeton, NJ. The site includes a fully-functioning catalog and shopping cart and was designed with the "earthy" feel that is so often associated with Birkenstock sandals.

The shopping cart was created using Mercantec SoftCart, which was provided by the client's site host. Custom templates were created for the shopping cart to seamlessly fit the database-driven catalog/cart pages into the rest of the site, which was a primary concern of the client.

The shopping experience is supplemented by information about the history, the care and protection, and benefits of Birkenstock shoes and sandals.

Since the launch of the site, the client's sales have dramatically increased.

After a year with their new image, Steppin' Birkenstock decided to liven up the site. Being that they liked the design, we decided to keep it and just brighten the colors.
